‘You’re Fired!’ More Than Half of Small Business Owners Would Give Trump the Boot for His Healthcare Plan

NEW YORK, May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — President Trump’s first 100 days have come and gone, and small business owners have spoken.

According to a newly released survey commissioned by Fit Small Business, targeting over 1,000 small business owners, more than half think the President should be canned.  Fit Small Business used Google’s small business panel to conduct the survey. The study can be found here: http://fitsmallbusiness.com/trump-healthcare-plan/.

Even more telling — ‘TrumpCare’ is extremely unpopular among small business owners: Only 13 percent support the current healthcare bill that was just passed in the House.

The majority of small business owners (72 percent) say expanding access to healthcare is THE MOST crucial factor in healthcare reform. They rate this higher than reducing the Federal debt or taxes.

Here are some of the study’s highlights:

  • 54 percent of small business owners surveyed said Trump should be fired
  • 53 percent of small business owners oppose the current healthcare plan; 13 percent support it; 34 percent remain neutral
  • The majority of small business owners don’t like the healthcare plan, and 63 percent said they are unsure how it will impact their businesses
  • An overwhelming majority believe that insurance companies should be required to provide coverage to people with pre-existing conditions

“In many ways, we were astonished to discover how negative so many small business owners were about Trump and his healthcare plan, primarily because as a group, small business owners tend to skew more conservative,” said David Waring, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Fit Small Business.

Another key finding from the study which supports that viewpoint: small business owners trust former U.S. Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders more than Trump or Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. 44 percent voted that Sanders would do a better job handling healthcare reform.
