The World’s Tallest Roller Coaster Will Make Your Jaw Drop!

By Danielle 2 min read

In 1989, engineers and manufacturers did the impossible and broke the 200-ft barrier of roller coasters by creating the Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point. As technology developed in the thrill ride industry, by 2005, a giant was created: The Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure, pictured here:

Next year, the record will be beaten again, and this coaster will no longer be the tallest. US Thrill Rides, a company that creates roller coasters, announced that it will be creating a staggering 570-ft “Polercoaster” in Orlando, Florida.

Michael Kitchen, the company’s president, revealed that the roller coaster is called “Skyscraper” and began building in 2015 in the entertainment district of Spyplex, and will be completed in 2017, making it the largest ride of its kind in the state of Florida.

There are no other roller coasters like it, because of its revolutionary layout that is different that the horizontal layout of the past. Instead, the track will hug a larger pole in the center of the fixture, and take its passengers all the way to the top, before sending it on a series of twists and turns until it reaches the bottom, in a ride that will take about 4 minutes.

It is believed that this coaster will reach speeds of about 65mph, which pales in comparison to many other coasters that can get up to 118 miles per hour. What it lacks in speed, it makes up for with amazing views that are unparalleled in any other coaster, and the unique layout definitely makes it worth the ride.

SHARE this to all your thrill-seeking friends!!
