According to reports, the terrorist has been identified as Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old resident of Mesquite, Nevada. Police say Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel onto concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.

Initial reports indicated police had killed Paddock in the hotel room, but the Associated Press confirmed early Monday that Paddock had shot himself prior to police entering the room.

No known motive has been determined for the terrorist act.

On Monday morning, President Donald Trump sent condolences to the victims in a tweet.

“My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you,” wrote the president.

With the death toll, the Las Vegas shooting becomes the deadliest in U.S. history, surpassing the horrific events at Pulse nightclub in 2014, when terrorist Omar Mateen killed 49 and wounded 58 others in Orlando.
