The Most Terrifying Hotel In America Will Soon Be Found In Texas

By David Clarke 3 min read

Hotels make for some of the creepiest and most terrifying backdrops in stories, and Hollywood has taken advantage of the setting in many famous movies. The Shining, Psycho, and Vacancy are some of the freakiest horror films that took place in hotels.

One of the most horrifying films of all time was actually not shot in a hotel, but that’s not stopping someone from turning it into one soon.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has thrilled and horrified millions of viewers over the years with its story of a group of friends being terrorized and picked off by a family of cannibals. It was marketed as a true story, but it’s completely fictional.

While it only lived in the realm of film and fantasy, someone has now decided to use elements from the movie in the hotel business.

Ohio businessman Roy Rose loved the movie so much that he’s converting the iconic Texas gas station used in the film into a large-scale hotel and entertainment site. Once completed, the location will feature cabins, a museum, gift shop, restaurant, and hopefully no insane chainsaw-toting killer. Seriously, that would not be good for business.

This horror-show of a hotel is set to open later this year and we’re curious, are you tough enough to brave a visit? Take a look through some pictures and judge for yourself.

There will be four overnight cabins available to stay in, and during your time at the hotel, you’ll likely visit the restaurant. Beware, in the film, the family served their patron’s human meat in the cafe. We’re guessing you won’t have any reason to fear the source of the meat, but we also wouldn’t blame you for not having much of an appetite.

If you were thinking the interior of the cabins would be cozy and Hilton-like, think again. The beds will likely be comfortable, but the dark red colors are sure to incite some nightmares of blood dripping down the walls. Sweet dreams!

The hotel’s museum will feature real props from the film as well as an outdoor stage for music. A smoker house and gift shop will be two of the other on-site draws. Not only will you be able to visit a Texas Chainsaw Massacre inspired hotel, but you’ll be able to take a little piece from the film home with you!

Builders are using as much of the original wood as they can in the construction of the smoker house. They’ll also be adding a replica of the Coca-Cola machine and gas pumps featured in the film. Oh, and the movie will be playing on a non-stop loop as if you didn’t have enough reminders!

The goal of this hotel and film replica is to draw as many people as possible to visit and hopefully even liven up the little town of Bastrop. Will you be one of the visitors?

As terrifying as this hotel might be, we can almost guarantee you’ll make it out alive…
