This Supposedly Haunted Theater Will Make Your Skin Crawl

Isn’t it strange that we as human find being scared a source of entertainment? From things like Halloween haunted mazes to watching scary videos to even going to a theater and spending money on a movie that will do nothing but scare us.

And while it is usually the movie at the theater that spooks us out, this theater in Boston does the spooking itself, without a need for movies to help it out in that department.

From the outside looking in, the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking theatres in the United States. This beauty also spreads to the interior as it is timeless beauty at its best.

I say timeless because this theater is actually one of the oldest theaters in the country that is still operational. However, the walls of this stunning theater hold some deep dark history, that still lives on to this day.

The Cutler Theatre was originally developed in 1903, and was actually commissioned by the founder of the popular department stores, Jordan Marsh. The theatre has been the host of a litany of different events ranging from vaudeville shows in the 1920s to the popular motion pictures of the 1950s.

However, this theatre is home to more than just brilliant shows and events. The Cutler Theatre is said to be home to a number of different spirits that haunt it each and every day. Here I’ll take a look at a few of the different spirits that supposedly haunt the theatre.

One spirit that calls the Cutler Theatre home is that of a former mayor who actually died while watching a show at the theatre and thus has his spirit remain in the building. Now the weird thing is, there is no record of this death ever occurring, but this spirit is the most sighted out of any at the theatre.

Another of the spirits that occupy seats in the theatre is that of a young couple who will actually try and befriend those who sit by them. However, this couple will always disappear before the second act of any play. Legend has it that this couple actually died in a car crash after leaving a performance. There is also talk of the spirit of a young girl appearing sometimes and can be heard crying, just out of sight.

There is also a room that has been dubbed “The Nightmare Room”, which is said to be the most haunted spot in the place. Numerous people report experiencing shortness of breath and a general sense of uneasiness while being in the room. Of course, as with any location that is supposedly paranormal, it is up to you to go check it out for yourself.

However, even if you don’t believe in ghosts and aren’t into the paranormal aspect of this building, you should still check it out if you get the chance. There are a ton of great shows they have on tap and it is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
