Want To Own Your Own Ewok House? Now You Almost Can

The Ewoks were responsible for building the coolest treehouses in the Star Wars universe.
Admit it, the first time you saw their awesome homes suspended high up in the trees, you immediately wanted to live in one or at least take a nice vacation in their village.
While you’ll never own an actual Ewok treehouse, a Dutch arborist and a Belgian design firm recently teamed up to bring us the next best thing that is already for sale.
The treehouse shown above is the work of designers Bruno de Grunne and Trees and People
Known as the Dom’Up, this treehouse features a lightweight cabin/tent design that can be suspended between two trees with help from a zero-impact arboreal fixing system.
The Dom’Up features a 172-square foot octagonal platform that is made from wood, UV-resistant canvas walls, and a waterproof tarp.
The structure is solid thanks to support from a frame made with galvanized steel.
Here’s another view of the Ewok inspired treehouse design.
The designers wanted to create a structure that was easy to setup and they accomplished that goal. This treehouse can be built in just two days thanks to a streamlined design.
If you want to sleep directly under the stars you’re also in luck. The treehouse was built with an easy to open canopy at its terrace area.
“The idea is to use the inner space of the forest, between the trees, rather than the inner space of a single tree, which is full of branches and obstacles,” de Grunne says.
As you can see, the treehouse also offers a netting structure which adds a good level of safety without closing off the treehouses walls. The open design was taken into consideration during the entire build process.
The treehouse’s tent structure also zips closed so you can enjoy a mosquito free night of sleep if that is your preference.
The treehouse inspired shelters are not cheap at $28,000. With that being said, they will last for years and save builders the hassle of designing their own treehouses and then determining all of the materials they will need.
The company is shipping the shelters almost anywhere in the world.
This isn’t the first design inspired by Ewoks. There is a near replica that was built in Costa Rica.
The treehouse in Costa Rica is actually part of a treehouse community and its designer was inspired by the Ewok design which led them to create their very own Ewok village. You can explore their creation at FincaBellavista.com.
The Dom’Up treehouse isn’t going to give you all of the creature comforts of home. In fact it’s really a glorified, although very well-build tent, suspended between trees.
With that being said, you will most certainly have bragging rights to the coolest Ewok abode in your neighborhood and for many Star Wars fans that’s probably good enough reason to spend $28,000 on a treehouse.
