Meet Chad Harrison, a kind man from Georgia who had the perfect idea to help out a group of Florida evacuees.

Harrison was watching the coverage of Hurricane Irma on the news when he noticed the reporting of the evacuees fleeing from Florida getting negative attention. Harrison knew he had to turn the narrative around and quickly thought of a smart idea to help the evacuees stuck in traffic on I-75.

Harrison decided it would be a great idea to grab supplies and grill food for those stuck idling in cars. He gathered his co-workers from the auto body shop and quickly got to work.

Luckily, the word spread about Harrison’s plan and several community members donated whatever they could to help out.

“It’s a huge storm,” Harrison told Inside Edition. “Being from the south, it’s something that we felt like we needed to do. We just take care of our neighbors.”

Harrison put out a sign that read “Free Food For Evacuees” and set up shop on the side of the highway. All together, Harrison was able to feed about 2,000 people. He even filled up a few gas tanks for some evacuees that were running low.

“It was beautiful,” Harrison said to Inside Edition. “I cooked meals. I filled up gas. I filled in where it needed to be, everyone did.”

While Harrison’s gesture may have seemed simple, it helped put people at ease during a very stressful time.

“People had tears of joy,” Harrison said to Inside Edition. “It’s just hard to describe when you see a child who has nothing and all of a sudden, they have to get on the road and run from a Category 5 hurricane. You can imagine the stress level of the parents. They were blessed.”

What an amazing act of kindness. Please SHARE this incredible story to inspire other!
